The diploma thesis deals with the history, development and transformation of the Posvitava Industrial Zone in Brno. The thesis gradually describes the development of industry first in Europe, then in the Czech lands and then in the city of Brno and the defined industrial zone around the Svitava River. The development of Brno industry from the end of the 18th century until the fall of the communist regime is described in detail. Subsequently, the development of the Posvitava industrial zone after 1989 is described, together with proposals for solving the brownfields problem and the possible further development and functional use of this zone.
