Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The bachelor thesis deals with the Holocaust in the context of the racial persecution of the original citizens of Liberec who were interned in the Terezín family camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. Ninety such persons (35 men, 45 women, 10 children and adolescents) were identified through the analysis of various databases. The persons concerned had first been interned in the Terezín ghetto and then deported to the Terezín family camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau. Here 87 of them were murdered, only three of them survived the end of the war. An integral part of the brutality of Nazi Germany's racial policy was the dehumanisation of human beings, who were gradually stripped of their human rights and, eventually, their identities, through discriminatory measures, and turned into numbers. Thanks to the subsequent post-war process of displacement of German-speaking inhabitants, most of those who knew and could remember them disappeared from Liberec at the same time. The process of gradual forgetting was completed after the communists took over the de facto monopoly of power in 1948. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to return the story of this group of the population to the history of the city they were forced to leave and in the vast majority of cases could never return to .
