This thesis deals with the issue of restoration of works of art looted by Nazis to the original owners. It illustrates the issue by means of concrete practical cases and presents its legal-theoretical framework. In the first part of the thesis, it summarises the historical context of the 20th century, which is then followed up in the comparative part of the thesis. This thesis analyses the procedures for the return of work of art in the Czech Republic and in other two selected countries, and in attempt to highlight their differences and similarities, it puts them in a position of mutual comparison.
