Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

The article provides a basic overview of archaeological finds of Renaissance glasses from the second half of the 16th to the first half of the 17th century from Opava and analyses them in the context of Silesia and north Moravia as well as in the broader context of the Lands of the Bohemian Crown. The article works with glass from ten sites located primarily in the historical centre of the town. Most of this material comes from excavations conducted by the Ostrava branch of the National Heritage Institute over the past 60 years, to a lesser extent artefacts from the collections of the Silesian Museum. In addition to a typological analysis of artefacts, the essay also investigates the chemical composition of selected glass samples in order to identify production circles and trade connections. Although general development trends are the same throughout the Czech lands, the material from Opava makes it possible to distinguish slightly different development in comparison with Moravian and Bohemian towns. © 2023 Czech Academy of Sciences.
