Objectives: Improvements in coronary angioplasty techniques combined with increasing experience in individual facilities have been raising the age limit for patients with acute coronary syndrome who can potentially undergo coronary angioplasty with a reasonable benefit in terms of additional years of quality life. The aim of our retrospective study was to determine the current situation in the treatment of acute coronary syndrome for patients over 75 years of age in the Brno Faculty Hospital in co-operation with two of its departments. Design, settings, participants. A retrospective analysis was carried out of a sample of patients hospitalised at the Department of Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, and General Practice in the years 2005 through 2007 because of chest pain or suspected coronary syndrome.
