L?article revient sur une catégorie controversée : la postmodernité (de laquelle procede le postmodernisme). Il se propose de justifier l?institution de ce concept, issu du domaine philosophique, dans le champ des études littéraires. Dans la tension entre pensée nord-américaine et pensée européenne, tout en se référant principalement a Jean-Francois Lyotard, il interroge la postmodernité dans son rapport avec la modernité, entre négation d?une part et relecture critique d?autre part. C?est sous cet angle qu?il appréhende l?oeuvre de Jean Echenoz, en particulier Le Méridien de Greenwich, comme anamnese du modernisme littéraire. Cette étude monographique lui permet de conclure que, si l?on observe dans l?ensemble des productions contemporaines une renarrativisation du roman, celle-ci se fait, sous l?influence du postmodernisme, sur le mode nécessairement ironique.

This article deals with a controversial category: postmodernism (which makes postmodernism). It aims to justify the imposition of this concept from the realm of philosophy, in the field of literary studies. In the tension between thought North American and European Thought, while mainly referring to Jean-Francois Lyotard, he questions the postmodern in its relationship with modernity, between denial on one hand and critical reading of the other. It is from this perspective that captures the work of JeanEchenoz, especially the Greenwich Meridian, as history of literary modernism. This monographic study allows him to conclude that, if we observe in all contemporary productions renarrativisation of a novel, it is under the influence of postmodernism on the user necessarily ironic.
