Die zweisprächige Publikation begleitete die gleichnamige Ausstellung, die zum Programm Pilsen ? Kulturhauptstadt Europas 2015 gehörte. München war in der Zeit um 1900 eine lebendige Kunstmetropole, für Künstler aus der ganzen Welt anziehende. Die Münchner Kunstakademie hat sich allmählich den Ruf der Prestigekunstschule Mitteleuropas aufgebaut. In München wurde im Jahre 1892 der erste mitteleuropäische Sezessionsverein gegründet und im Jahre 1911 Der blaue Reiter, die berühmte Gruppe der Avantgardisten. An diesem reichen Kunstgeschehen nahmen auch Künstler aus Böhmen und Mähren teil. Im Einleitungsteil der Publikation wird die Aufmerksamkeit auf drei wichtige Themen gerichtet: Kunststadt München, Die Münchner Kunstakademie und Bewegung der tschechischen Künstler zwischen die Metropolen von Bayern und Frankreich.

The same named exhibition organized within the program Pilsen ? European Capital of Culture 2015 has been accompanied by this Czech and German publication. Munich was around 1900 a vivid metropolis of artists from the whole world. The Munich Academy of Fine Arts reached gradually the reputation of the most prestigious artistic school in Central Europe. In Munich, the first one of central European Secessions was founded in 1892 and Der blaue Reiter, the famous group of avant-gardist artists, was established in 1911. Artists from Bohemia and Moravia participated distinctively in this rich developments. At the beginning of the publication, the attention is drawn to three important themes: Munich as the city of art, The Munich Academy of fine arts and Fluctuation of Czech artists between Munich and Paris.
