Der Titel des Beitrags evoziert die Vorstellung, dass Gegenstand des Beitrags die Mitwirkung der Polizei bei der Armenfürsorge sein wird. Der methodologische Zugang ist hier aber gerade umgekehrt: die Polizeievidenz als der Bestandteil der polizeilichen administrativen Restriktionsmaßnahmen zu zeigen, als Instrument des Brünner Magistrats in der Bemühung, wenig als möglich latent sozial Bedürftige zu haben.Am Beispiel von repräsentativen Fällen von Lohnarbeiter in Brünn und Olmütz wird die gezielte Bemühung von Magistraten gezeigt, die Aufnahme in den Heimatverband auf Minimum zu begrenzen, bzw. Tendenz dem sozialen Desinteresse für die weiteren Schicksäle der "ausgedienten" Lohnarbeiter, die oft nach der jahrelangen Arbeit gezwungen wurden, in ihre Heimatgemeinden zurückzukehren, die kaum Mittel für ihre Armen besaßen.

Serving as a methodological point of departure for the study is an analysis of police records as a set of restrictive measures, as tools used by magistrates with the aim of having as little latently socially needy in town as possible. Using the example of representative cases of wage workers in Brno and in Olomouc, the author demonstrates the systematic efforts by the magistrates of large agglomerations to keep to a minimum the number of persons accepted as residents and, thus, the tendency towards "social disinterest" in the fate of "worn-out" workers who were often forced to return to their rural village, whose coffers lacked the means to care for its socially deprived citizens.
