Nicolaus Zangius and the dissemination of his works in the Central Europe
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The list of motets by Nicolaus Zangius (ca.1570-1617) which has survived among the inventories of sheet music and musical instruments from the Liechtenstein castle in Prostějov (1607 and 1608) is a unique document which gives insight into the author´s oeuvre, and was most probably compiled by the composer himself. His sacred works (altogether ca. 53 pieces according to the latest research) were mostly disseminated in Central Europe. In addition to one collection of motets devoted exclusively to Zangius (Cantiones Sacrae, Wien 1612 and Leipzig 1613), other pieces of his were published in anthologies such asPromptuarium musicum and Florilegium Portense, and a few in occasional printings. Tracing Zangius´ pieces in period inventories and preserved collections, this research shares new findings and helps us to understand how this repertoire was spread.
