The Ritual Time in Greek Magical Papyri
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This paper is a result of the research into aspects of time in Greek magical papyri. While researching the Greek Magical Papyri, one might ask „What were these spell really like?“ What time did it take to perform them and more importantly: Does the amount of time needed to perform the ritual say something about its significance? These are the main research question of my paper. It will also research other aspects of time in connection to the spells – for example which time of the day was the most suitable for performing of the spell ritual? Do certain kinds of spells require certain time of the day or is it the darkness of the night that is generally needed, as was indicated by Apuleius in his Golden Ass? Is it mentioned in Greek Magical Papyri, which part of the day was the most suitable to perform magical ritual? This paper is trying to answer these questions while using interdisciplinary tools.
