This paper explores the transnational genre of the biblical play and its close connection with the English comedy, with a particular view to Polapená nevěra (Adultery Revealed) and Historia duchovní o Samsonovi silném a udatném někdy vůdci izrahelském: v způsob tragedie sepsaná (The Sacred History of Samson, once the strong and brave Israelite general: composed in the fashion of a tragedy, Prague, 1608). In doing so a bigger picture of what we might call a genre of transnational biblical drama of the early 1600s emerges.
