Eine der wohl schillerndsten Künstlerpersönlichkeiten der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts ist der Maler Rudolf Schlichter, ein Vertreter der Neuen Sachlichkeit. Ein Grundmotiv in seinem Werk ist die Landschaft: den Stilisierungen der Frühzeit folgten sprechende Stadtlandschaften; Anfang der 1930er-Jahre wurde dann die Schwäbische Alb das tragende Sujet in seinem Werk, später surreale Landschaften. Erstmals wird das Spektrum der Landschaftsmalerei Rudolf Schlichters umfassend präsentiert.

One of the most dazzling artist personalities of the first half of the 20th century is the painter Rudolf Schlichter, a representative of the New Objectivity. A basic motif in his work is the landscape: speaking stylistic landscapes followed early stylizations; At the beginning of the 1930s, the Swabian Alb became the main subject in his work, later surreal landscapes. For the first time, the spectrum of Rudolf Schlichter's landscape painting is presented comprehensively in this exhibition calogue.
