Das im Jahre 1731 am Wiener Kärntnertortheater aufgeführte Werk Giulio Cesare in Egitto kann als „Pasticcio par excellence“ gelten und stellt gleichzeitig einen interessanten Beleg des Opernbetriebs am Wiener Kärntnertortheater dar. In diesem Beitrag wurden einige Grundinformationen zu den Opernproduktionen des Kärntnertortheaters um die Wende der 1720erund 1730er-Jahre des 18. Jahrhunderts, und die bisherigen Erkenntnisse zum Ursprung der Pasticcio-Arien kurz zusammengefasst. Neu konnte der vermutliche Librettist mit Giovanni Domenico Bonlini festgelegt und drei der sechs noch unbekannten Arien als Musiknummern aus in London aufgeführten Opern identifiziert werden: Es handelt sich um zwei Arien von Attilio Ariosti (Lucio Vero, 1727) und eine von Nicola Porpora (Elisa, 1726). Dies legt den Schluss nahe, dass der Urheber des Pasticcios – wahrscheinlich Francesco Rinaldi – neben der vollständigen Partitur von Händels Admeto nur mit einigen Kollektionen der Favourite Songs aus Londoner Opern gearbeitet hat.

The opera Giulio Cesare in Egitto, performed in 1731 at the Kärntnertortheater in Vienna, can be considered a pasticcio par excellence. It is also an interesting example of an opera performed at the Kärntnertortheater in Vienna. The study provides information on opera performances at the Kärntnertortheater after 1728 and newly identifies the probable librettist (G. Bonlini) and the origin of some arias. These are two arias by Attilio Ariosti (Lucio Vero, 1727) and one aria by Nicola Porpora (Elisa, 1726). This suggests that the author of the pasticcio - probably Francesco Rinaldi - worked with only a few collections of arias from operas performed in London (the so-called Favourite Songs) in addition to the complete score of Handel's opera Admeto.
