La plupart des théories (Pascale Casanova, Franco Moretti, Gisele Sapiro, Pierre Bourdieu) penchent vers une vision centrale. La périphérie, si tant est qu'elle soit considérée, apparaît généralement comme une extension ou un espace de transformation des phénomenes centraux. Cependant, les trois dernieres décennies ont montré a quel point une vision inversée peut être enrichissante. Les idées d'Édouard Glissant, Néstor García Canclini, Édouard Lourenço, Ana Mafalda Leite et Michel Biron en sont un bon exemple. A leur exemple, nous tentons de renverser la perspective et de donner la priorité aux spécificités de la périphérie. La question est traitée en quatre points. L'objectif de l'argumentation est d'évaluer les spécificités de la périphérie. Dans un premier temps, il faut souligner les caractéristiques identificatoires du centre et de la périphérie. Ce n'est que dans la deuxieme partie que les caractéristiques ontologiques, en particulier la perception de l'espace et du temps, sont abordées. La troisieme partie sera consacrée aux caractéristiques axiologiques et a la structuration du champ littéraire et culturel. La quatrieme section traite les processus de déperiphérisation et la dynamique de la relation entre le centre et la périphérie, en prenant comme exemple la littérature québécoise.

Most theories (Pascale Casanova, Franco Moretti, Gisele Sapiro, Pierre Bourdieu) lean towards a central view. The periphery, if it is considered at all, usually appears as an extension or space of transformation of central phenomena. However, the last three decades have shown how enriching an inverted view can be. This is exemplified by the ideas of Édouard Glissant, Néstor García Canclini, Edouard Lourenço, Ana Mafalda Leite and Michel Biron. Following their example, we try to reverse the perspective and give priority to the specificities of the periphery. The issue is divided into four points. The aim of the argument is to evaluate the specificities of the periphery. First, the identifying features of the center and the periphery, or the way they are recognized, must be emphasized, and only in the second part the ontological features, in particular the perception of space and time, are dealt with. The third section is devoted to the axiological features and structuring of the literary and cultural field. The fourth section deals with processes of deperipheralization and the dynamics of the relationship between center and periphery, using Quebec literature as an example.
