Das Kapitel fasst die Geschichte der Wiener Gesera, eines der größten Judenpogrome im mittelalterlichen Mitteleuropa, zusammen. Die Autoren diskutieren vor alle die Frage, ob bzw. inwieweit das Pogrom mit dem Kampf Herzog Albrechts gegen die Hussiten zusammengehängt hat, was vereinzelte Quellen andeuten. Die Autoren vertreten die Meinung, dass die Wiener Gesera nicht durch eine vermeintliche Kooperation Juden mit Hussiten verursacht und begründet wurde, sondern hauptsächlich finanziell motiviert war. Das Geld brauchte Herzog Albrecht einerseits für seine Heirat mit der Königstochter Elisabeth von Luxemburg, andererseits aber für die Finanzierung der Hussitenfeldzüge - was doch eine bestimmte Verbindung zum Hussitenkrieg darstellt.

The chapter summarises the history of the Viennese Geserah, one of the largest Jewish pogroms in medieval Central Europe. The authors mainly discuss the question of whether or to what extent the pogrom was connected with Duke Albert's fight against the Hussites, which is suggested by isolated sources. The authors are of the opinion that the Viennese Geserah was not caused and justified by a supposed cooperation of Jews with Hussites, but was mainly financially motivated. On the one hand, Duke Albert needed the money for his marriage to the king's daughter Elisabeth of Luxembourg, but on the other hand, he needed it to finance the Hussite campaigns - which is a certain connection to the Hussite War.
