The International Modern Greek Seminar for Classicists was organized for university students of Ancient Greek. It used a new didactic method based on the phenomena of linguistic continuity between Ancient and Modern Greek and, more generally, on the findings of modern historical linguistics. In this method, special emphasis is placed on the vocabulary of Greek, on the phenomenon of so-called carryovers, i.e. words that have passed from Ancient Greek into Modern Greek without any particular change in form or meaning. In addition to the language teaching, the workshop also included expert lectures and a cultural programme.
