Der Beitrag Passio Pragensium Iudaeorum secundum Iohannem rusticum quadratum: Ein neuer Überlieferungsträger aus St. Paul im Lavanttal (Daniel Luger und Christof Paulus, erschienen 2025 im Deutschen Archiv für Erforschung des Mittelalters, herausgegeben von den Monumenta Germaniae Historica) stellt eine neu identifizierte Handschrift aus dem Kloster St. Paul im Lavanttal vor. Der Text gehört zur Passio Pragensium Iudaeorum, einer parodistischen lateinischen Erzählung, die kurz nach dem Pogrom gegen die Prager Juden zu Ostern 1389 entstand. Im Stil eines Evangeliums verfasst, schildert das Werk die Ereignisse auf Grundlage zeitgenössischer Zeugnisse. Der neu entdeckte Überlieferungsträger erweitert die bekannte Handschriftentradition und ermöglicht den Vergleich von Textvarianten, sprachlichen Besonderheiten und thematischen Differenzen. Zugleich eröffnet er neue Perspektiven auf die Verbreitung und Rezeption dieses Werkes im mittelalterlichen Mitteleuropa.

The article Passio Pragensium Iudaeorum secundum Iohannem rusticum quadratum: A New Transmission Witness from St. Paul in Lavanttal (Daniel Luger and Christof Paulus, published in Deutsches Archiv für Erforschung des Mittelalters, 2025) presents a newly identified manuscript source preserved in the monastery of St. Paul im Lavanttal. The text belongs to the Passio Pragensium Iudaeorum, a parodistic Latin narrative composed shortly after the pogrom against the Jews of Prague at Easter 1389. Written in the style of a gospel, the work recounts the events based on contemporary testimonies. The discovery of this new transmission witness expands the known manuscript tradition and allows for comparison of textual variants, linguistic features, and thematic differences. It also sheds light on the broader context of how this work circulated and was received in Central Europe.
