This article deals with the legal preconditions for establishing a foreign branch office in the Republic of Macedonia. The most important provisions, stipulated by the applicable national law, are being presented and discussed. Issues like legal and administrative requirements, application processing time and registration fees are being addressed. The so called one-stop-shop system which considerably accelerates and simplifies the registration procedure is also explained. Furthermore, the national visaregime in relation to the requirements and the procedure for obtaining a business visa and residence permit is explained.
