The purpose of the report is to present the differences in approach adopted by Poland and the Czech Republic in the production of hydrocarbons from their own unconventional resources. Both countries are similar in their high reliance on Russian natural gas imports, the need to differentiate their energy mix as a result of the energy and climate policy, as well as a growing demand of developing economies for energy resources, including natural gas. The difference between them, however, lies in their social and political approach to the creation of this sector. Poland has decided to follow the example of countries that are developing their unconventional resource exploration and production potential. In turn, the Czech Republic has introduced a moratorium on the extraction of these raw materials despite the fact that hydraulic fracturing had been used for years to stimulate other resources as well as several oil and gas companies being considerably interested in the development of the sh
