Numerous theories have emerged on the true nature of the China-CEE cooperation in recent years. Some believe that China nurtures hidden The Visegrad countries? Political Relations with China: Goals, results and prospects 137 5Interview with MEP Adrian Severin, 27 November 2013, European Parliament, Brussels. political intentions covered by business cooperation and even tries to divide Europe from the inside. Others say that the 16+1 is a purely economic cooperation fostering investment and trade relations. We have found that with the exception of SinoCzech relations there has not been any substantial change in the political relations between the V4 and China since 2012. That is mirrored by the lack of clear economic takeoff, although in economic exchange the four countries are still much ahead the rest of the group of CEE16. Politically the major improvement of the bilateral relations with Poland came in 2011, thus before the official kick-off of the 16+1 platform.
