The experts in the Czech Republic have been leading a discussion about the nature of social work identity for more than a quarter century. This debate has not brought a definite shift in the understanding of what social work is and even has not revealed a shared position on what should be the domain of social work (Chytil, 2007; Navratil, Navratilova, 2008; 2012; Matulayová, Musil, 2013; Punová, Navratilova, 2014). However, if there is a consensus on the identity of social work, it refers to the fact that social work is a branch socially constructed (Navratil, 2013) and therefore also multiparadigmatic or discursively open (Musil, 2013). If it is difficult or impossible to capture the professional identity in one clear and final definition, the professional identity can be seen with the help of discourses.
