Different Perceptions on Refugees : Comparison of Public Opinion in Kenya and Ethiopia
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The article describes the current refugee crisis in Kenya and Ethiopia. The text includes an overview of the situation focusing on economic, political-security, environmental, and social problems through the description and comparative analysis. The main part of the article deals with public opinion on refugees and answers the question of whether Kenyans and Ethiopians agree with the policy of accepting refugees and whether or not they see the reception of refugees as a threat. An online questionnaire was used for this purpose. The survey revealed that both Kenyans and Ethiopians see the reception of refugees as a security threat, mainly due to terrorism and the deteriorating security situation. The main difference between the states is that most Kenyans support the policy of accepting refugees, unlike Ethiopians who do not.
