Media literacy as a last resort
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Today's lens on the importance of media literacy would suggest that research, teaching and training on this topic have a long tradition in the development of media in democratic societies. However, as can be seen from the Mediadelcom project data, which focus on mapping the data base of media research in selected countries and interviews with key actors in the development of media landscapes, the situation is different. I will focus in the presentation on the situation with research and teaching of media literacy in the Czech context and its development, and how this situation is perceived by the interviewees. I draw specifically on 16 qualitative interviews with four groups of actors: academia lecturers and researchers; policy actors; media industry actors; and state institutions, governmental and NGOs actors. This study has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the grant agreement No 101004811 (within the project Critical Exploration of Media Related Risks and Opportunities for Deliberative Communication: Development Scenarios of the European Media Landscape—MEDIADELCOM). The presentation reflects only the author’s/authors’ views, which do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Research Executive Agency. Neither the European Union nor the Granting Authority can be held responsible for them.
