This chapter presents strategies to strengthen the resilience of children with an incarcerated parent, building on a previous chapter that explored the nature of resilience and children's lived experiences in this context. Drawing on real-life stories of clients of Prison Fellowship International Czech Republic, the chapter illustrates the multidimensional challenges these children face, as well as the diverse ways in which they respond to parental imprisonment. The case studies show both situations in which adequate support enabled children to overcome adversity, and situations where similar circumstances led to very different outcomes for siblings. The chapter synthesizes key principles for professional practice aimed at supporting resilience: a strength-based and resource-oriented conceptual framework; an assessment process that identifies risks but focuses on capabilities, relationships, and developmental potential; goal-setting that prioritizes positive development over mere risk reduction; and interventions that combine risk mitigation with the strengthening of protective factors and activation of adaptive systems. A multisystemic approach is emphasised, recognising the fragmentation of systems surrounding children of incarcerated parents and the need for coordinated involvement of family, schools, social services, non-profit organisations, and the criminal justice system. The stories of individual children serve to illustrate how these principles can be applied in practice and how professional support can help children regain stability, strengthen key relationships, and access resources that foster their well-being. The chapter concludes with recommendations for practitioners, highlighting the crucial role of social workers as guides who help children not only manage immediate difficulties but also actively develop the resilience needed to navigate long-term challenges associated with parental incarceration.
