Cartography and geoinformatics is basic subject of Courses on The Department of Geography, Masaryk University in Brno. Passing this subject successfully is necessary for the next study. Fundamentals of Cartography or GIS (geographic information systems)can be found in many others courses at the Faculty of Science, Faculty of Education and Faculty of Informatics. Most existing cartographic textbooks were published in early 80 s. These books are usually unavailable for all students. Except them there aresome GIS textbooks published at different universities, but they are very different grade and they content variable information quantity. That is the reason why the project of multimedia textbook was proposed because it can provide very valuable and complex material for study. The multimedia textbook is created by modern web technologies, such as hypertext, flash animation, javascript, html, CSS, SVG, PHP, MySQL etc.
