Utilization of the Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy and Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry for elemental mapping on fossil snake vertebra
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The feasibility of laser-abůlation based analytical methods for quantitative and qualitative microspatial analysis of different samples has been reported by several autors. In particular, Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) and Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA ICP MS) allow fast multielemental analysis in a broad variety of matrices. Furtermore, the excellent spatial resolution of these methods offers the possibility to study the chemical distribution, namely chemical mapping, of the elements constituents. Additionaly, LA ICP MS provides high sensitivity and low detection limits. Here the feasibility of LIBS and LA ICP MS for microspatial analyses of a fossil snake vertebra will be discussed. The microchemical analysis is coupled to the synchrotron radiation hard X ray microtomography measurements.
