Are we interested? Improving community quality of life through participatory practices of site specific art
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Recent studies have shown that individual well-being of people is seriously affected by quality of their community life. In many communities in Czech Republic, the problem of low or decreasing participation in community life can be observed. Contemporaryart practices like site specific art represented for instance by the events of Czech artist Kateřina Šedá react to these tendencies and focus on community building and loosening of socio-spatial barriers. An inquiry of the selected project of Šedá was carried out to investigate whether and how the community quality of life can be improved by means of site specific art. Through use of geographical qualitative methods, the socio-spatial impacts on participants of artistic event were assessed. The outcomes of the research acknowledged that site specific art can help to attract people to community life and enhance its quality.
