The "LIFE in Salt Marshes" project focuses on the ecological restoration of degraded and disappearing salt marshes in Moravian Pannonia, Czech Republic. The initiative collaborates with local farmers and landowners to address biodiversity loss, reduced water retention, and poor water quality in the South Moravian agricultural landscape. Key activities include revitalizing wetlands through stakeholder cooperation, implementing practical restoration measures, and promoting best practices via lectures, excursions, and workshops. The project also tackles challenges such as invasive species, eutrophication, and policy mismatches between conservation objectives and agricultural practices. Positive outcomes have emerged from engaging hunters in grazing management, fostering communal grazing, and exploring innovative approaches with nature conservation authorities.
