A Review of Telehealth-Delivered Functional Assesment Training for Teachers of Students with Neurodevelopmental Disabilities
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This scoping review examines the use of telehealth to train educators and paraprofessionals in functional behavior assessment (FBA) for students with neurodevelopmental disabilities. A literature search in Web of Science, Scopus, and PsycInfo identified six studies meeting the criteria after the retrieval process. A comprehensive full-text review confirmed that valid experimental designs support telehealth‘s effectiveness in teaching complex FBA skills for school application. Telehealth shows promise in overcoming barriers such as time, financial constraints, and geographic distance, particularly in underserved areas. However, challenges persist, including technological issues, variability in procedural fidelity, and limited data on skill maintenance and generalization, with social acceptability varying across studies. As challenging behaviors in schools remain a critical issue, and research on telehealth-based behavioral training is limited, this review highlights the importance of expanding and refining telehealth methodologies to address this urgent need. Future research should explore hybrid training models, cultural adaptations, and strategies for optimizing time management, advancing the potential of telehealth to expand access to evidence-based behavioral training.
