This article is designed to put forward the case for the use of case studies in the Sports management program at the Faculty of Sports Studies at Masaryk University. This is an interactive method of study, in which students are challenged to resolve realworld dilemmas and scenarii, the basics of which are presented in the case study; to analyse them and discuss them. The objective of this specific example is an analysis of the operational environment of the Sports Bowling Center (SBC), an outline of the major opportunities and risks inherent in the situation and the probable reactions of the organisation to certain specified changes in the operational environment. In this case study, which incorporates a description of the SBC in the Olympia mall, thestudents were called upon to identify strengths and weaknesses in the project and suggest possible strategies on the basis of SWOT analysis.
