Paper examines development of municipal solid waste management in South Moravia Region and impact of global financial crisis. Expenditure development is compared with the development of GDP and total sum of municipal expenditure of region. Paper also compares capital and current waste expenditure and shows notable difference in development. Current municipal waste expenditure show certain characteristics of necessity good. Development of municipal waste revenues show that they do not exceed 10% of wasteexpenditure and thus municipal waste management needs to be financed mainly from other sources.
