Die Palastarchitektur Johann Lucas von Hildebrandts prägt das Bild Wiens bis heute maßgeblich. Dies gilt nicht nur für die ihm zugeschriebenen Bauten, sondern auch für die Fassaden bürgerlicher Häuser, deren Gestaltung bis weit ins 19. Jahrhundert hinein von seiner Architektur beeinflusst wurde. Hildebrandts Einfluss auf die damalige Entwicklung der Wiener Palastarchitektur bedeutete einerseits eine Abkehr von den Strömungen des römischen Barocks, wie sie etwa von Johann Bernhard Fischer aus Erlach und Domenico Martinelli vertreten wurden, andererseits aber auch die Fortführung der Wiener Tradition des Planimetrismus von Giovanna Pietro Tencalla.

The palace architecture of Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt still determines the image of Vienna to this day in a significant way. This applies not only to the buildings attributed to him, but also to the facades of burgher houses, which his architecture influenced well into the 19th century.Hildebrandt&apos;s intervention in the current development of Viennese palace architecture meant, on the one hand, a departure from the current trends of the Roman Baroque represented by the architecture of Johann Bernhard Fischer of Erlach and Domenico Martinelli, and, on the other hand, a continuation of the local tradition of Viennese planimetricism of Giovanna Pietro Tencalla.
