Der Artikel konzentriert sich auf den Aspekt der Familie in der Zeit nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg in Georg K. Glasers Roman „Geheimnis und Gewalt“. Der Roman schildert die Spaltung der Familie durch die Brutalität des aus dem Krieg zurückgekehrten Vaters, der sich völlig von seiner Familie entfremdet hat. Der Aufsatz findet eine Parallele zwischen der Handlung des Romans und den politischen und gesellschaftlichen Ereignissen in Deutschland in der ersten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts, die die Gesellschaft spalteten und damit oft eine völlige Entfremdung unter den Menschen bewirkten. Im Roman wird die Weimarer Republik als ein Schlachtfeld sowohl fortschrittlicher als auch radikal ideologischer Kräfte dargestellt, deren Erfolg die Studie zu analysieren versucht.

The article focuses on the aspect of family, in the period after the First World War, in Georg K. Glaser’s novel Secret and Violence [Geheimnis und Gewalt]. The novel depicts the division of the family caused by the brutality of the father who had returned from the war and had become completely estranged from his family. The paper finds a parallel between the plot of the novel and the political and social events in Germany in the first half of the 20th century, which split society and thus often caused a complete alienation among people. In the novel, the Weimar Republic is presented as a battleground for both progressive and radically ideological forces, the success of which the study tries to elucidate.
