Tombstones, like other immovable art, are a part of our culture, an artistic manifesto of their time and a stone register of our villages. In the case of the cemeteries in the so-called Czech Corner on the Czech-Polish border, after the death of Maria Houšková, the local historical community and its peculiar dialect disappeared. The cemeteries with tombstones became the only existing witnesses of the Czech settlement of this area. It is therefore necessary to document and protect this layer of material history, which presents history in the cultural landscape and environment of past and present generations.
