A tanulmány a 19. században Magyarországon megforduló két cseh írónő, BoženaNěmcová és Irma Geisslová írásait vizsgálja, különös tekintettel a kulturális transzferreés a Habsburg Monarchián belüli mobilitásra. Az írás bemutatja, miként jelent megMagyarország motívuma a migráció kontextusában, valamint hogy ez milyen hatássalvolt a vizsgált szerzők irodalmi és etnográfiai munkásságára. A tanulmány rámutat a„másik” kultúrájával való találkozás szerepére a nemzeti identitás formálódásában.

The study examines the writings of two Czech writers who visited Hungary in the 19th century, Božena Němcová and Irma Geisslová, with a special focus on cultural transfer and mobility within the Habsburg Monarchy. The paper shows how the motif of Hungary emerged in the context of migration and how this affected the literary and ethnographic work of the authors under study. The study points to the role of encountering the culture of the “other” in the formation of national identity.
