In questo lavoro discuto perché, secondo Platone, il metodo educativo socratico non ha funzionato con Alcibiade. Contrariamente all’interpretazione classica, che attribuisce la colpa al metodo stesso, intendo evidenziare come la responsabilità vada invece attribuita ad Alcibiade. Per sostenere questa tesi, analizzo alcuni dei passi più famosi del rapporto tra Socrate e Alcibiade, tratti dall’Alcibiade Primo e dal Simposio, individuando le ragioni del fallimento nell’ignoranza e arroganza di Alcibiade.

In this paper, I discuss why, according to Plato, the Socratic educational method did not work with Alcibiades. Contrary to the classical interpretation, which attributes the blame to the method itself, I intend to highlight how the responsibility should instead be attributed to Alcibiades. To support this thesis, I analyze some of the most famous passages from the relationship between Socrates and Alcibiades, taken from Alcibiades I and The Symposium, identifying the reasons for the failure in Alcibiades&apos; ignorance and arrogance.
