The relationship between homocysteine and cysteine in patients with different angiographic findings
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Background. We studied the relation between plasma total homocysteine and cysteine levels in men with positive and negative angiographic findings. The negative finding was defined as no stenosis in coronary arteries. The positive result was characterizedas 70% or more stenosis in coronary arteries or as 50% or more stenosis in arteria coronaria sinistra. Methods. The degree of stenosis was determined by coronary angiography. Both of analytes were measured simultaneously using ion-paired HPLC method with coulometric detection. Results. We compared this method with HPLC method with fluorescence detection by linear regression: HPLC/ED = 1.1435 (HPLC/FD) ? 0.273 umol/l, R2 = 0.9945 for homocysteine and HPLC/ED = 0.8737 (HPLC/FD) + 56.534 umol/l, R2 = 0.8564 for cysteine. The significant positive correlation between levels of cysteine and homocysteine was found in the angiographically negative group (r = 0.506, p = 0.044). In contrast to this finding, there was no significantly correlation
