For many businesses it is difficult, costly and often risky to carry out transport-shipping operations on their own. These are, therefore, becoming one of the most commonly outsourced activities. In the first part of the article, different levels of logistics services providers are classified. In the second part of the article, on the basis of an analysis and evaluation of transport processes in several manufacturing, distribution and logistics companies in the Czech Republic, discussed, identified andspecified are problems associated with strategic and operational decision making of companies to outsource transport activities. In conclusion, the paper assesses the current situation, perspectives and barriers to the use of higher forms of cooperationin outsourcing transport in Czech companies.
