The submitted text deals with possibilities of application of several mathematical statistical methods in social economic analyses ? particularly in the case of analysis of selected determinants of unemployment at the regional level. Two methods were used; the method of testing of hypothesis ? test of independence and the method of multidimensional statistical analysis ? cluster analysis. The performed analysis enables more exact and valid view of the statistics of unemployment than absolute and percentage indicators used as standard
