In framework of this research, the guiding behaviour of the locomotive GE Class C30 was investigated by means of computer simulations. The original American locomotive is compared with a modernized one from the point of view of vehicle/track interaction in curves. The basic goal of the modernization, proposed by the company CZ LOKO, is a remotorization related with a significant weight reduction of the locomotive. Therefore, the aim of this research report is proving of the safety against derailment of the modernized locomotive.
