Interfascial pressure monitoring and prevention of compartment syndrome in head and neck oncology
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The work focuses on neck compartment syndrome from an anatomical, physiological, andpath physiological point of view. The authors describe changes that accompany the movement of fluids, ions, and proteins between the intravascular spaces and interstitialtissues as well as hydrostatic and oncototic pressure changes. Methods: The sample consists of a total of 30 surgically treated patients with a diagnosed tumour in the head and neck area. During surgery, a silicone microchip, the Codman Microsensor, wasimplanted into the soft neck tissues. The microchip recorded interstitial pressure for 48 hours. A Codman ICP (Intracranial Pressure) Microsensor basic kit and a Codman Express were used to conduct the measurements. The average pressures obtained in thetissues were 4.6-9.7mmHg, (mean 7.5 SD 6.1). Interfascial pressure measurement in the neck area after extensive neck surgery for treatment of neck tumours was proved to be possible in a human clinical experiment.
