The article deals with the most commonly used types of procurement procedure in the Czech Republic according to act no. 137/2006 coll., about public procurement as amended, also including related regulations. The authors summarize their practical experiences about the public procurement setting in the construction sector as from the point of view of the contracting authority (submitter) same as from the side of the competitor. The article points out the most common mistakes committed by authorities in the preparation of these proceedings, particularly in relation to investment plans, feasibility studies and project planning including well-prepared schedule of prices. The authors also evaluated the time possibilities in terms of the contracting´s authority preparation, the progress of the procurement procedures and their future updates until its own initiation, that all with the option of software tools usage. The article offers an alternative view on the complex problem of public financing of construction contracts in the Czech Republic from the perspective of contracting authorities and also from the side of the competitors.
