DESIGN OF CARTOGRAPHIC SYMBOLS FOR THEMATIC DIGITAL MAP
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Maps as a tool of expression are used to describe reality since ancient times. Since the beginning of cartographic production, a way of creation has changed. Maps contain except spatial context also more thematic and other additional information. In order to describe this content, various cartographic means of expression are used. This article deals with a creation of cartographic symbols for a thematic digital map that is intended for cyclist in Moravian wine region. A creation of such cartographic symbols has to bring an interpretation of general and thematic information in one. Most of general information is already established in national cartographic customs and therefore it is not expected to change them. Creators of such cartographic symbols have to optimize methods of thematic information representation in relation to general information, while having in mind basic cartographic rules. A problem described further in this article is a method of visualization used in a digital map. The digital map was designed so that user could view it at different scales and also in more cartographic compositions. To achieve this, cartographic symbols had to be modified with respect to scale. The main goal was to design the visualization method so that users were able to particularly correctly and quickly read the map and in case of interest to obtain from the map other information.
