Forms of Facility Management Provision in Different Types of Companies

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

Efficient management of operating costs, processes and premises usage has currently become one of the basic requirements of building owners and operators. This results in an effort being made to optimize these costs in order to provide comfort and safety of both the employees and people present in the buildings, while not wasting basic operating media and human labour at the same time. Such optimization is dealt with by Facility Management. Its concept is slightly diverse in different countries as the definition of Facility Management tends to be adjusted according to the conditions of a particular state. In the Czech Republic, Facility Management is still a relatively new issue which has been constantly evolving. Number of companies that provide either comprehensive or partial Facility Management services is growing along with its development. The question therefore arises whether all these companies (Facility Management service providers) are going to find their position on the market. The aim of this article is therefore to find out what forms of Facility Management provision are most often used in the companies in the Czech Republic, i.e. whether insourcing or outsourcing predominates. Alternatively, which services related to the management of building facilities are more advantageous to be performed on their own (insourcing) and, conversely, which are more appropriate to be carried out by an outsourced company. Subsequently, based on these results, the situation in the Czech Republic and that in other countries have been compared. A questionnaire survey was conducted in various companies in the Czech Republic (universities, hospitals, shopping centres, authorities and construction companies) to achieve this goal, and its evaluation was subsequently carried out.
