The paper contains a new knowledge at the branch of machining of advanced ceramics, which has been obtained from conventional pendulum grinding tests of these structural materials. The ceramics at the base of Al2O3 and SiMgO3 had been ground by the helpof diamond wheels with bronze and resin bonding. The components of cutting force were measured and evaluated in connection with machined material, nature of chip forming, quality of machined surface and cutting conditions.
