Visualisation of large-scale heat exchanger networks to support energy retrofit
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A recent resurgence in Heat Exchanger Network (HEN) retrofit research has seen the introduction of several new visualization tools. The most recent developments have resulted in (i) the Energy Transfer Diagram, (ii) Heat-Exchanger Load Diagram, (iii) Heat Surplus-Deficit Table, (iv) Shifted Retrofit Thermodynamic Diagram, (v) Retrofit Tracing Grid Diagram, (vi) Stream Temperature vs. Enthalpy Plot – STEP, and (vii) Retrofit Dashboard. Each of these visualization tools provides a lens to increase the understanding of an existing HEN. Using this insight together with defined steps and rules, it becomes easier to design and implement effective retrofit strategies to lift heat recovery performance. A common difficulty with these tools, however, is the scale-up to large HENs while still providing clear insight into the problem and its opportunities. The aim of this contribution is the introduce a new set of HEN visualization tools that can be effectively applied to large-scale HENs to help identify and communicate potential retrofit projects for energy managers. The new tool comprises two distinct elements that express the net heat load distribution and the existing network topology. The new tool is illustrated through a case study with 46 heat exchangers. © 2019 Begell House Inc. All rights reserved.
