ADSL is a technology that increases the transmission capacity of copper subscriber lines many times. It enables improving the customer's access to the Internet and new broadband services. The paper deals with the measurement and testing on subscriber loops for the purpose of determining whether they are suitable for installing the ADSL system. The main impairments that present barriers to ADSL operation are also described in this contribution.
