The BIOSIGNAL conference has a long tradition - this is the message, regularly conveyed on this front page of BIOSIGNAL Proceedings. It seems perhaps not necessary to repeat it again, as many participants are attending this biennial conference regularlyand the attendance became a personal tradition to them. However, there are obviously also many namely young newcomers who may be surprised learning that the first BIOSIGNAL conference has been held in the time of their early childhood, if not before their birth, in 1976. The scientific orientation and purpose of the conference has not changed since then: to discuss the advances and problems of acquisition, processing and analysis of signals measured on biological objects, namely human patients.
