The product is a driver for network traffic marking to ensure Quality of Service provision on Microsoft Windows based terminal devices. Design requirements were obtained by analysis of the intended usage. The key parameter in design is the least possibleimpact on network traffic performance and the running system itself. DSCP marking is performed using commonly used criteria based on network and transport layer metadata - source and destination network layer addresses, transport layer protocol and where appropriate source and destination ports on transport layer are used. In addition to the driver, user mode API for rule specification and driver management is also specified and provided. A simple application using this interface is designed too, so the proposed system as a whole completely ensures DSCP marking of network traffic and enables the relocation of traffic marking in Differentiated services domain to Windows based terminal devices where appropriate.
