The chapter deals with characteristics of the eye - iris and retina. In the chapter there is a brief history of these devices, an introduction to ophthalmology (medical devices, especially for the retina of the eye), a presentation of the imaging technologies for the iris, but also the eye retina, algorithms for recognition and extraction of important features. Diseases that affect the recognition process are also discussed. Part of the text is a sample of the results of our own research and development - both retinal scanning devices, as well as algorithms for detecting pathologies and detecting and extracting important features from both eye characteristics.
